Gavin Crosby
Gavin Crosby is a British B.A.S.I. ski instructor and ex-examiner. He has been a ski instructor in Serre Chevalier since 2001 when he set up Serre Chevalier’s first British ski school. Gavin has dual nationality (French/British) and holds the highest ski teaching qualification in France allowing him full ‘French equivalence’ to conduct ski coaching with all levels and ages of skier.
We take direct ski school bookings for our guests and this starts with gathering the right information about you and your skiing experience to ensure your experience is a genuine success.

Private ski lessons in Serre Chevalier, for all levels, all ages
Gavin will ski with you one-on-one, or with up to six skiers. Prices vary depending on the number of skiers wanting to share a session; we recommend that private ski coaching is limited to four skiers maximum, particularly if you are looking for targeted input on your technique, confidence or winter skills for more experienced skiers.

Ski guiding in Serre Chevalier and nearby resorts
Ski guiding in France is legal only when hiring a fully qualified instructor or high mountain guide. There are strong arguments for this ruling mainly linked to the safety of skiers and boarders which of course is paramount; no-one can argue with that.

For confident blue run skiers and above looking for a day exploring Serre Chevalier and finding the best snow
An epic couple of days cruising the whole of Serre Chevalier, from MONETIER LES BAINS spa village, with a backdrop of the Dôme du Monêtier glacier nestling in the Ecrins National Park, to UNESCO World Heritage Site Briançon full of sunny restaurants and home to Vauban’s remarkable medieval forts! Gavin will take you down his favourite runs and find the best snow on the mountain.

For red run skiers and above wanting to tackle some more challenging terrain and get lots of mileage
You’ll ski many of the red and black runs in the valley, hunting down the best snow in Monêtier then up and over into Serre Che’s sprawling Vallons de la Cucumelle with rolling fields of snow. You’ll continue on and off piste towards Chantemerle where, after a bite to eat, you’ll up the tempo and take on the Piste Luc Alphand named after the local Downhill hero himself. 7000 vertical metres a day anyone?

For proficient skiers who have dabbled with the off piste and are now looking for some adventure
Test your metal amongst the famous larch trees of Serre Chevalier including the forest off the Crêtes des Lauzières and the magnificent tree descents off the Crête de Cibouit. The openly-spaced and needleless larch forests are a joy to ski!

For proficient on and off piste skiers hankering after a day in La Grave, with a warm-up day in and around Serre Chevalier
Join Gavin’s 2 Day Trees & Powder course, with Day 1 in Serre Chevalier and Day 2 skiing La Grave – La Meije, one of the World’s most famous venues for off-piste skiing. Transport to and from La Grave can be arranged at cost.

Contact us to check availability on any of the above guiding days. We will look after your booking and keep in touch regarding the weather and snow conditions. All off piste guided days with Gavin include avalanche safety equipment e.g. transceiver, shovel and probe.
Cancellation policy:
Payment is required in full at the time of booking (unless otherwise arranged and confirmed in writing by us). A full refund of any monies paid will be issued only when cancellation is confirmed in writing six weeks or more before the first lesson’s start date.
